The monthly trend analysis shows the seasonal variation in attendance rates and the winter of 2009 shows an increase in DNAs and cancellations. You can change region, or view national data. Measure:
Outpatient Attendance Rates
Description:
Provides a time trend analysis showing the variation by month in outpatient attendance rates.
Definition:
  • Appointments: number of outpatient appointments
  • Attendances: number of attended appointments
  • Attendance Rate: Percentage of appointments that were attended
  • DNAs: number of DNAs (Did Not Attend)
  • DNA Denominator: number of attendances + number of DNAs
  • Cancellations: number of appointments that were cancelled by either the provider or the patient
  • Cancellation Rate: percentage of appointments that were cancelled
Technical definition
  • Attendances: all appointments with an attended code of 5 or 6
  • DNAs: all appointments with an attended code of 3 or 7
  • Cancellations: all appointments with an attended code of 2 or 4
